DOC-20230609-WA0002_230609_212411_1.jpg

The second open gardens event was a resounding success! With over 250 guests attending throughout a very hot weekend we raised £2125.50 for charity. Banstead Age Concern will benefit from £1676, Princess Alice Hospice gets £119, MS Research £178.50 and Banstead Village in Bloom £152.

Thanks to Banstead library and Edibles for selling tickets, Mayor Eddy Humphreys for visiting the gardens and an even bigger thank you to the gardeners who opened their gardens and all the visitors who came along.

The gardens looked beautiful and the visitors certainly enjoyed wandering through Banstead on a sunny day.

Banstead Village in Bloom's first Open Gardens event was a roaring success

Banstead Village in Bloom's first Open Gardens event was a roaring success. More than 320 visitors enjoyed wandering around 10 back gardens, enjoying some tea and cake and chatting about gardening. The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Rosemary Absalom, visited and chatted to several of the visitors. A big thank you to the residents who opened their gardens, we know they had a lot of fun too. This event will be in the calendar again for next year and we are looking for anyone who would like to open up their garden too. Thank you to all of you who attended and helped to make it such a wonderful weekend.

Raising money for various charities and show casing Banstead's High Street, front and back gardens and the Flower Show.

We are delighted to say that we raised almost £2,500. Banstead Age Concern will receive the £1635 raised from ticket sales. Other charities will receive the following amounts raised by some gardens selling tea and cake, paintings, and plant sales.

  • Banstead Age Concern £1635

  • The Royal Marsden £333.70

  • MIND £165

  • Princess Alice Hospice £157

  • MS Research Treatment and Education £131

  • Tuesday Club £40

  • BViB £20
