Banstead Remembers
Poppies grew up all over Banstead to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One in a wonderful community effort by the British Legion, The Schools, All Saints Church, Christchurch, The History group, Banstead Horticultural Society and many more generous residents who contributed to this wonderful display.
The poppies at the War Memorial, on the bikes on the High Street roundabout, and in All Saints Orchard and the heart shape on Christchurch were all made with recycled materials by local school children, and by special workshops run by BViB's Janet Marder and Marion Hayns. Thanks also to the ladies who crocheted and knitted the poppies to decorate the tree trunks in the Orchard.
