New village sign

Volunteers from Banstead Village in Bloom have completed their latest project this weekend. Sally grew 278 marigold plants from seed to create a new village sign. Inspired by seaside town name displays she wanted to see if it could be created here in Banstead.

The structure was designed and made by Banstead Village in Bloom's chairman, David Martin OBE, and carried through the High Street down to its position at the War Memorial roundabout by several strong volunteers. 2 tons of soil was delivered and volunteers moved it into the raised wooden planter. Sally and another volunteer then used the homegrown marigolds to spell out Banstead. I hope you agree that it's a great success. Sally is already planning her winter display. Many thanks to all the volunteers who made this possible.
